GLACIAL TOMB JOINS GILEAD MEDIA

Posted by Adam Bartlett on

Today we can finally announce that we will be working with GLACIAL TOMB on their forthcoming album. Ben reached out late in 2017 to see if we would be interested in working with them and we couldn't say no. We're stoked to team up with him and his crew of death metal deviants to deliver some truly filthy music.

Official blurb
Gilead Media welcomes Denver, CO death/black/sludge outfit Glacial Tomb (Khemmis, ex-Abigail Williams) to its roster. “Gilead’s history of releasing complex extreme music is precisely why we are so thrilled to work with the label. We are all huge fans of their catalog and are honored to be in such incredible company,” commented guitarist/vocalist Ben Hutcherson.

The band's 2017 EP Cognitive Erosion combined myriad extreme influences to produce a virulent strain of punishing, unsettling music. That release garnered praise across the underground, as Decibel Magazine wrote that "[the] four-track debut is a 13-minute configuration of blackened sludge, smothering death, and explosive grind whose gestalt more than earns the title Cognitive Erosion,” while MetalSucks described the group’s sound as “wonderfully unhinged.”

Glacial Tomb will join Chicago deathgrinders Immortal Bird this June for a 10 day trek across the Midwest and East Coast, including shows with Pyrrhon, Dreadnought, God Root, and more. Shortly after returning home, the band will enter Flatline Audio with acclaimed producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Primitive Man, Cobalt) to record their debut full length album, which Gilead Media will release this fall.

A demo of a new song, “Sunless Dawn,” is available here. While discussing the song in a recent interview with CVLT Nation, Hutcherson stated “[T]his song is a coherent vision of what this band is and the different avenues available to us to produce challenging, compelling music. 'Sunless Dawn’ was the moment wherein we found [our sound], a mixture of discordant, chugging death metal and sorrowful black metal melodies.”
